Our Community

By 2030, it is anticipated that one in four Singaporeans will be 65 or older.

This demographic shift presents significant challenges, especially in addressing the issue of social isolation among the elderly, even those who reside with family members.

The multifaceted needs of the senior residents are primarily the following:

Lack of Supportive Family Dynamics

Many senior live with family members but experience social isolation and unmet expectations for support, leading to social disconnection. By providing opportunities for seniors to socialise with the larger communities, our activities encourage cognitive and physical development, facilitate social connections and prevent loneliness.

Lack of Access to Non-Family Support Providers

Socially isolated seniors in poor health face barriers to accessing non-family support providers. The limited economic well-being of their families and caregivers exacerbates this issue. Our interventions that bridged gaps in non-family support include facilitating seniors’ access to available medical services and making regular house visits to provide connections and monitor their overall well-being.

Need for a Holistic Approach to Well-being

Social isolation is linked to serious health risks, such as cardiovascular problems, cognitive impairment, and mental health issues. A holistic approach considers total physiological, psychological, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual well-being.  Our programme comprehensively meets this need through empowerment, social connections, spiritual enrichment, and psychological support.
